'I hope we'll be back here very soon,' residents say as they leave

Israeli settlers evacuated from a West Bank wildcat outpost on Friday in adherence with an agreement struck with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's government.

Under the terms of the deal published by the Israeli government on Thursday, the settlers had to leave by Friday afternoon; the last cars were streaming out of Eviatar in compliance with the 4:00 pm deadline.

A military unit will also be deployed to the site, while the state will review the legal status of the land on which the outpost has been established, and consider its regulation.

The Eviatar outpost was illegally established nearly two months ago, in response to the murder of Yehuda Guetta in a terrorist attack at the Tapuach Junction in the West Bank.

"I hope we'll be back here very soon," one of the evacuees told journalists on Friday before driving off. "We can build a big house."

The hilltop area where the settlers established a settlement of trailer homes, shacks and tents lies near Nablus in the northern West Bank.

The Palestinians, who claim the land as their own, had harassed the settlers by burning car tires, sounding horns and pointing laser beams at them, leading to clashes with Israeli security forces.
