Despite the spread of the virus, the number of hospitalized people remains low
Israel's Health Ministry expects a significant rise in coronavirus cases due to the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.
Currently around 300 cases, the number could jump to 500 or 600 as early as next week.
According to the daily Haaretz, the authorities are even considering reinstating the "green passport" system which differentiates vaccinated and non-vaccinated citizens in access to certain places and activities.
The "green pass," which was lifted on June 1, only allowed vaccinated people to dine inside restaurants and attend most cultural events.
In recent days, Israel has seen the number of daily cases climb to levels not seen since April. Nearly 300 cases were confirmed on Tuesday and 224 more were reported on Wednesday evening. However, the number of hospitalizations remains low, with 26 people hospitalized in serious condition on Wednesday.
