Gov. Larry Hogan calls it, "another major milestone," this Father's Day as Maryland emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Maryland Department of Health reports that were no additional deaths from COVID-19 since Saturday, the first time there has been no daily increase in the state's death rate since Oct. 18, 2020.

Officials report 42 new cases first daily increase under 50 since Mar. 23, 2020.

The 7-day positivity rate was .72% on Sunday, a new record low.

Hospitalizations declined by three since Saturday, to 150. That's the lowest total since March 27, 2020.

As of Sunday, 72.9%  of adults have received at least one dose of vaccine, and about 3.25  million people are fully vaccinated. That's about 53% of the state's total population.

WBAL's Phil Yacuboski reports that the state health department will use what officials learned from distributing the COVID-19 vaccine and apply it to distributing flu vaccines later this year.
