Health Ministry announces that adolescents ages 12 to 16 to be administered coronavirus vaccine

Israel will start administering COVID-19 vaccine doses to teenagers ages 12 to 16 starting next week, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday.

The decision was made Tuesday night following what the ministry described as a "lengthy discussion" with presentations by experts.

Risks from expanding vaccines to adolescents were reviewed, including from myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle. A Health Ministry study recently found a small number of myocarditis cases in males under the age of 30 after taking the second Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine shot. Read more at i24
