Because Amazon was able to sell thousands of products more inexpensively than local stores, Israelis began buying almost everything online, including clothing, electronics, food and toilet paper. Israelis developed a sport of making orders worth more than $49 but less than $75, Israel’s threshold for charging customs on imported items. Numerous Facebook groups formed to share tips and deals.
