In response to concerned neighbors and parents of Woodholme Elementary students, our office has been working diligently with the Baltimore County traffic and transportation team to come up with traffic calming solutions on Mount Wilson Lane.

I am pleased to share a raised crosswalk (which is similar to a speed hump) with the appropriate fluorescent yellow-green signage will be installed adjacent to the entrance of the school. According to the county’s traffic and transportation team, this should slow traffic considerably. Also, if warranted, a crossing guard will be posted in the area.

Additionally, the Baltimore County Police Department is currently reviewing the location for a speed camera.

I have inquired for a timeline of when the raised crosswalk is scheduled to be installed, as well as the completion of the BCPD’s speed camera study.

As soon there is more information to share, we will be sure to keep folks updated. In the meantime, this is a major step in the right direction for the community, which has been advocating many years for these safety improvements.

Crosswalk to be Installed at Old Pimlico Road and Bare Road

After intense community engagement, a traffic study and multiple discussions, I am thrilled to share that a raised crosswalk is scheduled to be installed at the intersection of Old Pimlico Road and Bare Road this summer.

Raised crosswalks improve public safety by making pedestrians more visible to motorists. They also function like a speed hump, which helps calm traffic and push back against poor driver behavior.

Since taking office, we have worked with many communities to help being raised crosswalks, speed humps, road striping and other pedestrian friendly measures to neighborhoods throughout the 2nd District of Baltimore County.

Many thanks to the Baltimore County traffic engineering and transportation planning team for helping to make this project a reality.

I am aware there are many neighborhoods that have missed qualifying for traffic calming devices. That said, we are working with the Department of Public Works to see what can be done to lower the threshold to help these neighborhoods.
