Intel To Build $200 Million 'Mega-campus' In Israel, Hire 1,000 New Employees

The announcement comes as competition between the world's titans of chipmakers intensifies

US tech giant Intel said on Wednesday that newly appointed CEO Pat Gelsinger will visit Israel next week to announce the establishment of a new campus at a cost of some $200 million to develop "chips of the future."

The company also announced its intention to recruit some 1,000 new employees this year.

The announcement comes as competition between the world's titans of chipmakers intensifies.

In March, Google appointed Uri Frank, a former executive at Intel Corp., as the new vice president of engineering to lead a team in Israel with the goal of "doubling" the design and build of custom chips, which will be used to improve the performance of its computer systems.
