Baltimore, MD - Apr. 21, 2021 - At OCA, the entire school day was dedicated to learning about and celebrating Yom Haatzmaut! In the Elementary and Middle School, the theme was "מי אני" Who am I, because of this person? Each teacher prepared a lesson about an influential Israeli leader and then rotated from class to class engaging the students in the lesson and a פעילות (activity). Students learned about what this person accomplished and how it can impact our lives today. Some of the leaders include: Rav Kook, Herzl, Rav Ovadia Yosef, Golda Meir, and more.

In the Early Childhood Center (ECC), each class took a “flight” to Israel and brought along their suitcases and passports! Once they arrived, they painted and visited the Kotel, made Israeli flags, and decorated blue and white cookies. Some children even put a personal note in the Kotel. We ended the day with an ECC Yom Ha’atzmaut outdoor Sing-A-Long with Rabbi Brodsky and his guitar.

All students enjoyed a delicious falafel lunch, and blue and white cookies for dessert, courtesy of Pariser's Bakery.
