Baltimore Makes City Spending More Transparent Through New Dashboard

Baltimore is making its city spending more transparent to residents.

The city launched Thursday a dashboard called Open Checkbook on its website.

The dashboard allows residents to look at spending by city agencies and to external vendors.

As of now, the data available is from this past fiscal year.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and city Comptroller Bill Henry said this is an effort to give the public the chance to explore how the city spends its money.

"The people of Baltimore City are our bosses. You deserve to be able to review and give input on how we spend your money so we can make sure we are spending it well," Henry said. Read more at WBALTV
