With Two Days To Go, Israel Still Undecided In Response To ICC War Crimes Probe

A follow-up meeting is scheduled before the April 9 ICC deadline on Friday

With only two days remaining, the Israeli government has still not formulated a response to the International Criminal Court’s intention to probe alleged war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. 

Recommendations submitted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Defense and Foreign Ministries, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are still being debated but it remains unclear if Jerusalem will respond to the ICC.

According to The Jerusalem Post, a follow-up meeting is scheduled before the April 9 ICC deadline on Friday.

Last month, The ICC announced that it had formally notified Israel and the Palestinian Authority of its upcoming probe into alleged war crimes on the Palestinian territories.

The move gave the two parties a one-month period to apply for deferring the case, with the court noting that a party must prove that it is capable of investigating the matter on its own. Read more at i24
