President of Israel Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin today, Wednesday 24 March / 11 Nissan, toasted the Passover holiday with soldiers from the High School Completion Course and their commanders at the IDF Mechvah Alon base, via Zoom because of the weather conditions that prevented him visiting in person. The toast was attended by Head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor and Chief Education Officer Brig.-Gen. Ophir Levius.

“Even though I was unable to be with you because of the stormy weather, I am with you with all my heart. Chag Pesach Sameach v’Kasher – a happy and kosher Passover – to you and your families and to all Israelis,” said the president to the soldiers, expressing his sorrow that he could not attend in person.

“In a few days we will celebrate Passover, which symbolizes liberation from slavery to freedom. This course expresses, to a great extent, liberation to freedom. It allows you to complete your studies and get a certificate. The certificate you receive at the end of the course will open important doors for you in the job market and give you the opportunity to go on to higher education. Many of you have difficult life stories that prevented you from getting 12 years of education. You did not give up, and you took your fate into your own hands. You decided to complete your education, which is a brave and important decision. I salute you.”

The president thanked the commanders, the teachers, the Education and Youth Corps, all those involved in working with soldiers and wished them and all Israel Chag Pesach Sameach v’Kasher.
