Vote seen as likely to mean that gov't will expand country's lockdown to quell new infections
The Knesset (Israel Parliament) will convene on Sunday to vote on a bill that would increase fines for violations of health ministry rules imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.
On Friday, Yariv Levin, Knesset Speaker, said the Knesset will convene for the vote on Sunday afternoon after all factions agreed to hold it.

The law's passing was a key condition set by the Blue and White alliance, led by Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz, for extending the nationwide lockdown.
Gantz initially demanded that the law must be passed on Thursday, ahead of a cabinet meeting, but no vote was held on the day, resulting in a lack of clarity on the restrictions. Read more at i24
