Some Health Workers Reluctant To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

The head of the Maryland Hospital Association said Wednesday a portion of hospital workers across the state are refusing to get the coronavirus vaccine.    

Bob Atlas, president and CEO of the hospital advocacy group, said some people have decided to take a wait-and-see approach when it comes to receiving the vaccine.

“We are hearing numbers in the 30 to 40% range within hospitals,” he said. “It’s higher in nursing homes. We are working with our hospitals and their people to make sure they are well-educated.” 

Atlas said they are working to educate staff to get them to take the vaccine, adding that it will take time. 

He said the Phase 1A group includes "people who are in the lower ranks who might not be as well-educated or medical professionals."

Speaking to reporters Tuesday in Annapolis, Gov. Larry Hogan said hospital workers are still "behind county health departments" when it comes to receiving the vaccine. Read more at WBAL
