At Baltimore County's vaccination hub in Timonium, officials worked Wednesday to allay residents' worries about the COVID-19 vaccine.

County Executive Johnny Olszewski said vaccinations administered in the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds played a role in a "promising decline" in key metrics. As of Wednesday, the county's positivity rate hit 4.99%, the first time that number has been below 5% since early November.

"It's also a test to how many Baltimore County residents have been doing and continue to do the right thing... but we want and we need to see our numbers move in this positive trend direction," Olszewski said. "Declining cases and the arrival of the vaccine should not be an excuse for letting our guard down."
