As was reported yesterday, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced the government’s intent to cancel the hotel requirement, but until this morning, it was unclear when this would take effect. Chaim V’Chessed even received emails today from worried passengers, in flight to Israel, inquiring whether they would be compelled to enter government hotels or not.
We are now pleased to share that effective immediately, passengers arriving in Israel will be allowed to quarantine at home. In the past hour, the Knesset Law Committee approved the cancellation of mandatory hotel quarantine. Furthermore, Chaim V’Chessed has learned that, at this hour, occupants of quarantine hotels are already being released.

Arriving passengers will be required to take a Corona test upon landing in Israel. Furthermore, they will be asked to commit to take a second test on their 9th day in quarantine. If both tests are negative, they will be allowed to end their quarantine on the 10th day (provided they receive notification from the Health Ministry). If they do not take a second test, they will need to remain in quarantine for 14 days.
