Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 28, 2020 - Sections of Jerusalem looked and sounded normal on the first day of the third COVID-19 lockdown on December 28, 2020. Schools were in session. Traffic was on the roads. Buses were running, but less often and with fewer passengers. Businesses in the Machane Yehudah Market found ways to get around restrictions and do limited business transactions.
While on the eve of the lockdown Mamilla Mall had takeaway food available and people were around, on Monday the mall was quiet. Eyeglass shops were open, but there were no customers.
Police units were stationed at the gates of the Old City. Jaffa Gate was shut once again. With new distance and number limitations IDs were checked before entry was allowed.

Ben Yehudah as the shops in the Old City was shuttered, for at least two weeks, and possibly more if the number of coronavirus cases does not go down.
