The Palestinian Authority (PA) foreign minister said on Saturday that the PA is ready to work with US President-elect Joe Biden and to resume negotiations with Israel for a two-state solution.

“We are ready for cooperation and dealing with the new US administration, and we expect it to renew its ties with the State of Palestine,” Riyad al-Malki said, as cited by the Associated Press.

Malki made the announcement during a press conference in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

He added that the PA wanted these two countries to be at the center of the negotiation coordination process.

This announcement signals an expected change in future US-Palestinian relations under the era of Joe Biden. As US President Donald Trump’s State Department slashed US aid payments to the PA, Biden argued he would take a more “traditional” stance in seeking to negotiate a two-state solution.
