Israel's Health Ministry will recommend the closure of malls and non-essential businesses in "red" and "orange" communities during an upcoming coronavirus cabinet meeting set for Monday in parliament, according to Israeli broadcaster Channel 12.

"There is an increase in [coronavirus] contamination, we must postpone the opening of shopping malls," National Security Advisor Meir Ben Shabbat reportedly said at the start of an earlier meeting held on Sunday.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said during the closed-door meeting that he “will not hesitate to put more restrictions in place" if cases fail to decline soon, according to Channel 12.
Last week, the government approved the reopening of fifteen shopping centers as part of an experimental pilot program as COVID-19 cases began declining through November.
But since then, the country has seen a reversal in fortunes, with health ministry officials now warning that the country may be headed towards "a third wave" of infections.
Health Ministry data released on Sunday showed that 870 COVID-19 cases have been detected in the last 24 hours, with 4.1 percent of all tests thus far coming back positive.
Meanwhile, Israel's coronavirus czar, Professor Nachman Ash, presented cabinet ministers a number of infection "forecasts" indicating the pace at which the disease will spread given the current rate of contamination.
