Oxford, AstraZeneca Acknowledge Dosing Error In Vaccine Trial

UK-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and the Oxford University acknowledged Wednesday a mistake in the trials of their vaccine against COVID-19 coronavirus, which make have impacted the interim results reported earlier.

In a previous statement, the researchers said it showed a 90-percent effectivity when administered in a specific dosage — half a dose first, and then a full dose after a gap.

Among those who had both inoculation shots administer full doses, the effectivity was only 62 percent, however.

In a statement on Wednesday, Oxford said that the concentration of the vaccine used for some of the shots was below the necessary level due to an error.
