'If they used any US equipment it also violates US law,' Omar lashes out
Ilhan Omar, a progressive Democratic representative from Minnesota, accused Israel in "ethnic cleansing" in a tweet on Friday over a West Bank hamlet razed by Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The demolition was announced on Tuesday, with the IDF saying the small community of Khirbet Humsa, where some 11 tents housing about 80 residents were destroyed, was built without permission.
Furthermore, the settlement was located in a West Bank firing range, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the army unit responsible for civil affairs in the West Bank, said.
The Bedouin village was located near the town of Tubas in the Jordan Valley, designated as Area C under full Israeli control.
"This a grave crime—in direct violation of international law," Omar proclaimed, adding that the demolition also violated the US laws as long as US-provided equipment was used in the operation. Read more at i24
