Committee makes one amendment to outline as restriction movement expanded to 1 kilometer

The Knesset’s (Israel Parliament) Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved Thursday night, in a majority of eight versus five, the coronavirus regulations and restrictions that came into effect on Friday at 2 pm (Israel Summer Time) and will extend for three weeks.

The key clauses which the members of the committee wanted to amend were the 500-meter (1640-feet) movement restriction, the prohibition on takeaways from restaurants and coffee shops, and the permission to attend protests.

The committee eventually amended only the movement restriction, expanding the allowed limit to one kilometer (0.62 miles) -- which the government later ratified. Read more at i24
