Baltimore County Election Officials Receive Deluge Of Aspiring Poll Workers

Baltimore County elections officials are sifting through a backlog of applications from people who want to be election judges.

Carol Eldringhoff sent off an application last Monday.

"It's now 10 days later and I have not heard anything from anybody," the Overlea woman said.

State election officials are short thousands of election judges. Retirees who often work the polls are in a demographic most vulnerable to complications of the coronavirus.

Because of the shortage, the state Board of Elections voted to consolidate voting to voting centers at the typical early voting locations and the state's public high schools. Registered voters will be able to vote at any voting center in their jurisdiction. Read more at WBAL
