Baltimore, MD - Aug 10,  2020 - One woman is dead and six people remain hospitalized with serious injuries after an explosion in northwest Baltimore that leveled three rowhomes, fire officials said.


The gas explosion near Labyrinth and Reisterstown roads left several people trapped under the rubble. Rescuers continue to search for other people who may be trapped there.

"It's a major gas explosion, so you had homes that were pretty much crumbled," fire department spokeswoman Blair Adams said.

Units from Baltimore and Howard counties were called to assist along with a specialized rescue unit dispatched from Montgomery County by Gov. Larry Hoga

“The Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, and the Maryland Public Service Commission are all assisting on the ground. We continue to offer the State of Maryland’s full support to local officials," Hogan said in a statement.

Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young and City Council President Brandon M. Scott offered their prayers for the victims and their neighbors.

"A lot of houses have been destroyed, a lot of windows have been shattered in this community and me and the council president just want everyone to pray for the residents who have been affected," Young said, Read more at WBAL
