Baltimore City Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young updated residents at his weekly press availability Wednesday.

Young announced he is canceling all special events in the city through Aug. 31 amid coronavirus concerns. This includes Fourth of July fireworks, the AFRAM festival and Artscape, Young said.

"After consultation with our public health experts, we believe this is the best move for the health of our city and its residents," Young said.

The mayor said there's a possibility that the city will revisit the decision later if the data shows it's safe to do so.

He urged city residents to travel only for essential reasons as the local stay-at-home order remains in place. Read more at WBAL
