Monsey Attack Victim Yosef Neiman Opens Eyes, Breathes On His Own

R’ Yosef Neuman, the 71-year-old father and grandfather critically injured in the anti-Semitic brutal stabbing attack during Chanukah in Monsey, NY, and was said to have a small chance of recovering has now opened his eyes and even breathed on his own, Kol Haolam reports.

R’ Yosef was one of five people injured in the attack in which a man entered the Rottenberg home with a machete and began stabbing people.

R’ Yosef family had said that “doctors are not optimistic about his chances to regain consciousness,” as the blade penetrated R’ Yosef skull directly into his brain.

Even if R’ Yosef does recover partially, “doctors expect that he will have permanent damage to the brain; leaving him partially paralyzed and speech-impaired for the rest of his life,” the family said last month.

Now, however, the father of seven and grandfather of many more has opened his eyes to the astonishment of many.
