A code orange air quality alert has been issued for the Baltimore metropolitan area Monday, July 29. The Maryland Department of the Environment declares code orange when air pollution concentrations may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Children, older adults, heart/lung disease sufferers and asthmatics are considered sensitive; they should avoid strenuous activity and outdoor exercise Monday to minimize the effects from the air quality, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment.
The code orange status applies to Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Harford and Howard counties as well as Baltimore City.
Warm temperatures are in the forecast Monday, with high temps in the mid 90s.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 95 and low around 75. Isolated showers and thunderstorms from 3 to 9 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 94 and low around 74. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy at night.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 89 and low around 72. A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89 and low around 72. There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86 and low near 71. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86 and low around 71. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
