The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for portions of Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and West Virginia until 10 a.m. Monday.

The flash flood watch is in effect for most of Maryland including Anne Arundel, Carroll, central and eastern Allegany, Frederick, northern and southern Baltimore, northwest Howard, northwest Montgomery and Prince George's counties.

Slow moving showers are predicted for this morning and torrential rainfall may lead to rain exceeding two to three inches in a short period of time. This may cause flash flooding of small streams and poor drainage areas, according to the NWS.
