'Mod Squad' Tried To Rob Pikesville Bank Today: FBI

PIKESVILLE, MD — The FBI is investigating 12 bank robberies over the past three months that authorities believe are linked to one group. On Saturday, the suspects tried unsuccessfully to rob a bank in Pikesville around noon before successfully robbing a bank in Baltimore City about two hours later, officials said.

There is a reward for information about the four suspects, who investigators have dubbed the "Mod Squad" because, according to the FBI, it's a "younger crew that uses a variety of clothing styles and sunglasses" to conceal their identities.

These are the locations where banks have been robbed in the spree, the FBI reports:

• Severn: March 26
• Baltimore: March 29 (two), April 4, June 6, June 11, June 15
• Essex: April 8
• Parkville: April 8
• Owings Mills: April 11
• Pikesville: April 11 and attempt on June 15
• Catonsville: June 12
• Baltimore City

In the robberies, officials said that one would act as a lookout in the bank while another would go up to the teller, present a note with the demand for money and leave with cash in a variety of vehicles.

There are two women and two men in the robbery crew, according to the FBI:

• Heavy black woman in her mid 20s to mid 30s, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall
• Heavy black woman in her mid 20s to mid 30s, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall
• Slim to medium-built black man with facial hair on his chin in his mid 20s to mid 30s, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall
• Slim to medium black man in his 20s who is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall
