Jerusalem Marathon Family Friendly (Photo Essay)

Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 17, 2019 - The ninth Jerusalem “Winner” Marathon took place, with 40,000 runners from 80 different countries in Jerusalem on Friday morning, March 15, 2019.

Winning the full marathon with a time of 02:18:47, was Ronald Kimeli Kurgat, age 33 from Kenya; in second place also from Kenya, Kipkogey Shadrack, 28, with a time of 2:19:07. For the women, Nancy Kimaiyo Chepngetich, 35, also from Kenya had a time of 02:44:50 to finish in first place. All six top spots were won by Kenyans.

Israeli olah Beatie Deutsch who won second place in the women's half marathon said she was pleased with her run, and is looking forward to racing soon in the Berlin Marathon. Deutsch nicknamed Speedie Beatie, is mother of five children and lives in Har Nof.

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem, israel streets were filled with families erev Shabbos, running in shorter special races and for non-profit organizations and multiple good causes too many to list. The participation of Marylanders and former Marylanders was also extensive. Thousands of participants and supporters proceeded to walk home after medals were received, as the last of the runners were still approaching the finish lines.
