Jerusalem 2019 Marathon Launched (Photo Essay)

Jerusalem, Israel - Feb. 12, 2019 - The Jerusalem 2019 Winner Marathon was launched by new Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion on Tuesday evening, at Kedma restaurant in Mamilla Mall, opposite of Jaffa Gate and the Walls of the Old City.

In his remarks Lion told the invited guests and media, "Jerusalem Winner Marathon is an International sporting event which attracts thousands of participants - runners and supporters. Marathoners have a unique experience to appreciate the landscapes of Jerusalem. This year the Jerusalem Marathon is expected to set a new record, with 35 thousand runners, 4,400 from 76 different countries. I am anticipating  the marathon to bring about 17 million shekel businesses in the city. See you at the starting line "  

Registration for the marathon, to be held on March 15, 2019, will end on Thursday, February 28, 2019. This year there will be six races, the full marathon, half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, the family race of 1.7 km, and the community race of 800 meters for those individuals with special needs.  

A special exhibition inspired by participants in the marathon presented 17 items of opinion leaders, including the skirt running outfit worn by runner Beatie Deutsch of Har Nof. Fifteen nonprofits are raising funds with groups running the in the various races. 

Marathon Winner Jerusalem is managed by the Sports Department of the Jerusalem Municipality, in cooperation with the Jerusalem Development Authority and the support and assistance of the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture and sponsored by Toto Winner. Speakers representing the sponsors all expressed how proud they are to be participating in the important sporting event held in Jerusalem, Israel.
