Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) arrested five Palestinians crossing the Gaza border into Israel on Sunday morning. The five Palestinians who breached the security fence were unarmed and handed over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.
Palestinians from the Hamas-run enclave often attempt to cross the Gaza border into Israel, knowing the security risks it involves. The Israeli military repeatedly warns Palestinians from breaching the security fence. Although Hamas and Israel agreed on a ceasefire in November, tensions remain high on the Gaza border with weekly demonstrations that often turn violent.
