New York - Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg will run as a Democrat in the 2020 presidential election, the Times of London is reporting.
Bloomberg, 76, had previously thought about running as an independent in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 elections.
The Times report, citing an unnamed source, claims the Boston-born billionaire has told “confidants” he will enter the race.
“Mike Bloomberg told me he is going to run in 2020,” a source told the British newspaper. “He has the money to see it through while other candidates knock themselves out.”
As of June 2018, Bloomberg’s net worth was estimated at $51.8 billion, making him the 8th-richest person in the United States and the 11th richest person in the world.
