In consultation with professional officials, the ministerial committee on matters regarding the fight against the coronavirus (the Corona Cabinet), this evening (Monday, 13 July 2021),approved the proposal of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz to shorten the duration of quarantine to seven days, conditional on waiting for the result of a negative coronavirus test.

The decision is effective immediately, by signed order of the Health Ministry Director General.

Prime Minister Bennett:

"In order to boost the cooperation with the public, as well as the confidence of the public, the Cabinet has decided to enable persons in quarantine to be tested on the seventh day of their quarantine, wait for a negative result and thereupon be released.

However, we will also increase enforcement for violations. People who leave quarantine without being tested will be fined NIS 5,000. The goal of this move is to increase the number of people who accede to quarantine.

We are setting out terms that the public is able to meet. We are coming toward the public.

We expect the public to accede fully, to quarantine, to the tests at the end of the period, to vaccinations and to wearing masks.

Together, we will defeat this pandemic."
