Israeli military to monitor morbidity within maskless units and report to the Ministry of Health

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will lift the mask mandate from several units, in part of a three-month pilot that will commence April 5, Hebrew media reported on Sunday.

After consulting with public health experts, Director-General of the Health Ministry Prof Hezi Levi approved the IDF’s request to take off masks for fighters and training units during drills and outdoor activity, outlet Kipa reported.

With Israel’s plummeting morbidity figures and the wide-scale Covid-19 immunization campaign, the ministry conditioned the authorization for units with at least a 90 percent inoculation rate.

The ministry further underlined that social distancing and gathering rules must be followed.

The indoor mask mandate will remain in effect for all IDF units, Kipa reported. Read more at i24
