At the Maryland State Fairgrounds, success against COVID-19 is just on the horizon.

"I can tell you, at this point, now I can ramp up to 1,000 or more (vaccines) per hour, only at this site," Baltimore County Health Officer Dr. Gregory Branch said. "Baltimore County is not only ready to ramp up here, we can ramp up at multiple site. The only thing we are waiting for is vaccine. Once we get additional vaccine, we will be able to do more people."

As a new federal plan aims to ramp up distribution of the vaccine nationwide, the need for the cure -- not only across the country -- is even more dire than ever.

"We have, thus far, had about 19,200 vaccinations and we've given out over 93% of those," Branch said.

Branch said the slow rollout could also slow down recovery efforts. Read more at WBALTV
