Ivanka Trump passed up an opportunity to back her father’s suggestion that some teachers should be armed in the wake of the Florida school shooting.

Speaking to NBC News during her trip to the Winter Olympics in South Korea, the president’s daughter/senior adviser made clear her discomfort with her dad’s suggestion that specially trained teachers should carry guns in schools.

Asked if she backed the idea of having armed teachers in her own children’s school, Ivanka said: “To be honest, I don’t know. Obviously, there would have to be an incredibly high standard for who would be able to bear arms in our school. But I think there is no one solution for creating safety.” Asked further if she was advising her father on the idea, she said: “I think that having a teacher who is armed who cares deeply about her students or his students and who is capable and qualified to bear arms is not a bad idea, but it is an idea that needs to be discussed.” Read more at NBC NEWS.
