U.S. stocks continued sliding Monday as fears about rising inflation and higher government bond yields interrupted the long-running market rally.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 505 points, or 2%, to 25017. The S&P 500 lost 1.8% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.3%--with both indexes heading toward their first three-day declines since December.

With the recent losses, the DJIA is still up about 1.5% for 2018 but has fallen more than 5% from its all-time closing high on Jan. 26.
