All three of the major averages traded within 0.2 percent of their respective flat lines

Stocks opened little changed Wednesday, erasing the steep overnight losses that developed after Iran attacked U.S. forces at two Iraqi bases.

The attacks, which were conducted to avenge the killing of Iranian Gen. Qassim Soleimani, left no casualties. President Trump took to Twitter to declare, “All is well!” He will address the nation from the White House at 11 a.m. ET.

All three of the major averages traded within 0.2 percent of their respective flat lines. Dow futures were down more than 400 points at their lowest levels of the session.

Defense stocks added to their hot start in 2020 with General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon all higher.

Boeing shares were under pressure after a 737-800 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport, killing all 176 people aboard. Read more at FOX Business
