A comprehensive clean-up is taking place around Yerushalayim ahead of the Tishrei Yomim Tovim. This includes tourist sites, residential neighborhoods, central locales and much more ahead of many events that will take place during Tishrei, events that will bring both residents and tourists.

During the operation, the sanitation division increases its activity, adding shifts and increasing the frequency of garbage collection that will be carried out daily with the addition of garbage collection vehicles, compacting cranes for collecting scrap and requests, cleaning tools of various types and special means.

Towards the eve of the Rosh Hashanah, the sanitation department will reinforce all the sieves in garbage containers and storage facilities, as well as in educational institutions and yeshivas. There will be increased cleaning and double shifts.

The sanitation and waste management teams are working to remove garbage dumps, which include the use of mechanized vehicles on the roads, washing and scrubbing streets in the neighborhoods and entrances to the city, as well as manual trenches, and neighborhoods as part of the yomtov operation.

The Municipality’s Operations Department, through the enforcement and policing department, began cleaning using the rinsing system (Garnick – water-rinsing and scrubbing machines) throughout the neighborhoods, central junctions and the front of the commercial centers, including removal of ads from walls, Walls, columns, staircases, entrances and interlocking stones.

The cleaning operation will continue until after Sukkos.

Because of the three-day Rosh Hashanah weekend, there will not be no garbage collection until after Shabbos. All efforts will be made by sanitation workers to pick up garbage on erev Yomtov. Sanitation officials call on residents to pack garbage well to minimize the number of bags.
