President Trump took aim at Rep. Rashida Tlaib on Tuesday, deriding the congresswoman as a “lunatic” after video resurfaced of her protesting a Trump speech in 2016.
“I watched just this morning this Tlaib from Michigan,” Trump said at Turning Point USA’s Teen Student Action Summit, a gathering of young conservatives and supporters of the president.
“There is no way she stands for the values of the people of Michigan,” Trump continued. “But I watched her this morning. She’s vicious. She’s like a crazed lunatic.”

Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and China will meet Iran in Vienna on July 28 to discuss how to save the 2015 nuclear deal, the EU’s foreign policy service said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The meeting has been convened at the request of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Iran, and will examine issues linked to the implementation of the JCPOA in all its aspects,” the statement said.
The Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the deal’s formal name, will be chaired by the EU foreign policy service’s Secretary General Helga Schmid.
Volvo Cars Tech Fund, the investment arm of Volvo, has backed Israel-based medical AI startup MDGo, incorporated as Endovitech, the former announced Monday. The financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. Calcalist’s Hebrew version first reported on the investment and a planned joint product last month.
Founded in 2017 and based in northern Israeli city Haifa, MDgo developed a system for analyzing injuries incurred by passengers during a car accident using the car’s existing internal sensors and connectivity capabilities. The system automatically sends its report to hospitals and emergency medical services.
MDgo’s technology is currently being piloted by Israel’s national emergency medical service Magen David Adom, and last month, the company announced a...
Washington - The U.S. military says that when it destroyed an Iranian drone last week over the Strait of Hormuz, it also took aim at a second drone.
Iran denies it lost any drones.
U.S. Central Command says that one Iranian drone crashed into the sea after the USS Boxer took what Central Command called “defensive action” against it last Thursday. It said the Boxer also “engaged” a second Iranian drone at the same time, but could not confirm it was destroyed.
Officials have said the Boxer used an electronic jamming device on the ship to attack the drones, rather than fire missiles at it.
U.S. officials say the drones acted aggressively toward the Boxer in international waters and were part of a pattern of efforts by Iran to disrupt navigation.
Washington - FBI Director Christopher Wray offered a lesson Tuesday in how to dodge questions about the special counsel’s Russia investigation, offering a possible preview of what lawmakers can expect when Robert Mueller testifies to Congress.
Wray, in an appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, repeatedly declined to answer specific questions about Mueller’s findings. He said he would leave those questions to Mueller, who will appear before the House on Wednesday, to answer himself.
Wray was willing to address other law enforcement subjects — such as describing China as the biggest national security threat to the U.S.
A number of Republicans on the committee, including the chairman, Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of President Donald Trump’s closest alli...
Washington - Former Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller’s longtime associate, Aaron Zebley, will appear alongside him and serve as his lawyer as Mueller testifies before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.
Zebley, Mueller’s former chief of staff and his top aide on the Russia investigation, was an unexpected addition to the witness table less than 24 hours before the hearing. The person who provided the information, granted anonymity to freely discuss the talks, said that Mueller requested Zebley be sworn in and take questions, but the committee decided instead that he could appear alongside as a counsel.
Republicans were livid about the last-minute change. Georgia Rep. Doug Collins, the Judiciary panel&rsq...
Damascus - Syria’s state media is reporting an Israeli attack on the country’s southern province of Daraa, saying it did not inflict any casualties.
State news agency SANA and state TV added that the “Israeli aggression” struck al-Harra hill that is home to Syrian army posts adding that it only caused material damage.
The media gave no further details about the early Wednesday attack that came a month after Israel targeted the same area.
Israel does not usually comment on reports concerning its strikes in neighboring Syria, though it has recently acknowledged striking Iranian targets there.
The al-Harra hill is a mountain south of the capital Damascus that overlooks wide parts of southern Syria all the way to the country’s Israeli-occupied Golan Heig...
Jerusalem - An incredible coincidence that occurred almost 80 years ago in New York saved Rabbi Yitzhak HaLevi Herzog from danger and ultimately led to a moving meeting between the heros’ descendants decades later in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Herzog, the chief rabbi of Israel at the time, was in New York in May 1941 in an attempt to convince President Franklin D. Roosevelt to act against Nazi Germany’s persecution of Europe’s Jews.
Before boarding a ship back to Israel, Herzog attended a farewell dinner hosted by Shabbos Friedman, a local communal activist. A photo of Herzog and Friedman taken at the dinner immortalized the event.
The photo was taken on May 7, 1941. Herzog was scheduled to head back to Israel the night the photo was taken but was removed from the list of passen...
St Paul - A Minnesota state legislator and a conservative group announced Tuesday that they are seeking ethics investigations into U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar for a range of alleged offenses.
Steve Drazkowski, a Republican, and Judicial Watch both say Omar may have committed immigration fraud by marrying someone they say is her brother. Omar, a Minnesota Democrat who came to the U.S. as a refugee from Somalia, previously denied the allegation and called such claims “disgusting lies.” A spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
Drazkowski asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate; Judicial Watch’s request went to the Office of Congressional Ethics. They have cited social media posts, unidentified sources in the Somali-American community ...
The National Security Agency (NSA) announced Tuesday that it will form a cybersecurity arm in October to unify its foreign intelligence and cyber defense missions.
The Cyber Directorate will be responsible for defending against "threats to National Security Systems and the Defense Industrial Base," the NSA said in announcing the new initiative.
NSA Director Paul Nakasone, who is expected to formally unveil the initiative later Tuesday, said the directorate will allow the agency to "redefine its cyber mission."
“What I’m trying to get to in a space like cyberspace is speed, agility, and unity of effort,” Nakasone said in a statement released by the agency.
The directorate will be led by Anne Neuberger, who has previously served as the NSA’s fi...
The House on Tuesday passed legislation to oppose the global boycott movement against Israel, laying bare Democratic divisions on relations with the key U.S. ally.
The resolution to put lawmakers on the record opposing the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement to press Israel on human rights issues in its conflict with Palestinians passed easily on a 398-17 vote, with five members voting present. Sixteen Democrats, mostly progressives, voted against it.
The resolution’s opponents included progressive freshmen Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), who support the BDS movement.
House Democratic leaders brought the resolution to the floor under a fast-track process that required a two-thirds majority for passage and limited d...
Jerusalem - A former Israeli prime minister is apologizing for the killing of 13 Arab protesters by Israeli police in 2000.
Ehud Barak, who has made a political comeback ahead of September’s elections, said Tuesday in an Israel Radio interview that “there is no place for protesters to be killed by their country’s security forces.”
Barak was responding to an op-ed written by a parliament member from the left-wing Meretz party who called on him to apologize for the October 2000 killings, which came in the opening weeks of the second Palestinian uprising, when he was serving as prime minister.
Barak’s campaign hinges on uniting liberal parties in a bid to oust Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s longest-serving prime minister.
United Nations - U.S. President Donald Trump hopes to decide soon on when to release a plan for peace between Israel and the Palestinians that “will not be ambiguous,” his Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt told the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday.
Greenblatt and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner have spent two years developing a peace plan - made up of political and economic components - that they hope will provide a framework for renewed talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
“President Trump has not yet decided when we will release the political portion of the plan, and we hope to make that decision soon,” Greenblatt told the 15-member Security Council.
While Greenblatt did not reveal any details of the “60-or-so” page plan, h...
Buffalo, NY - Monae Davis walked out of prison on March 7, thanks to a new law that eased some of the harshest aspects of the United States’ war on drugs.
Now the U.S. Justice Department is trying to lock him back up.
As Davis, 44, looks for work and re-connects with his family, U.S. prosecutors are working to undo a federal judge’s decision that shaved six years off his 20-year prison sentence under the First Step Act, a sweeping criminal-justice reform signed into law by President Donald Trump last December.
“They’re prosecutors – it’s their job to make it hard on people,” he said. “Do I think it is right? No, it’s not fair.”
Even as thousands of prison inmates have been released by judges under the new law, federal prosecut...
Nashville, TN - An immigration agent gave up trying to arrest a Tennessee man who, aided by neighbors, refused to leave his vehicle for four hours.
WTVF-TV reports, an ICE vehicle blocked the unnamed man’s van in his driveway in Nashville and attempted to take him into custody Monday, but he refused to get out. As he sat in the van with his 12-year-old son, neighbors decided to help.
“We made sure they had water, they had food, we put gas back in the vehicle when they were getting low just to make sure they were OK,” Felishadae Young told the station.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent had an administrative warrant that allows officers to detain someone but not forcibly remove them from a home or vehicle.
When the man refused to cooperate, the ICE agent cal...
