Top Knesset (Israel Parliament), Public Security Ministry and Israel Police officials met Wednesday to review the Knesset Guard's preparedness for an event like the Capitol riots in the US on January 6, Israel's Channel 12 reports.

According to the report, the review was initiated on instructions from Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin, in line with security efforts at state offices across the world following the Washington DC unrest.

The review was not based on any intelligence indicating that something similar could soon take place in Israel.

The meeting reportedly saw officials discuss how long the Knesset Guard could stand on its own before reinforcements came in during a hypothetical mob attack and whether it was capable of mounting a prolonged defense. Read more at i24
