Embassy opening in Jerusalem to be reciprocated with opening Israeli embassy in Tegucigalpa, Honduran capital

Honduras will move its embassy to Jerusalem by the end of the year, according to announcements made after a phone call Thursday between  Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Hernández announced the move in a tweet Thursday, a year after saying he would do so. Honduras opened up an economic office in Jerusalem shortly after the announcement, yet held off on making the full move until Israel reciprocated and opened up an embassy in Honduras' capital, Tegucigalpa. 

Israel's Prime Minister's Office released a statement shortly after that said that the two leaders had spoken and expressed their intent to open respective embassies by the end of the year. Read more at i24
