Shaare Zedek Medical Center reported that the condition of Gavriel Lavi, who was injured in the stabbing attack on Friday in the Old City, is improving. Lavi, 50, is still sedated and on a respirator.

Dr. Alon Schwartz, a senior surgeon in the trauma department at Shaare Zedek Medical Center spoke on Friday about Gavriel’s condition when he arrived at the hospital. “About ten minutes to 7 a.m., we received a report of a man who was stabbed in the Old City. He arrived at the trauma unit with stab wounds all over his body – scalp, neck, back, chest and legs.”

“His condition was severe and we administered medical treatment,” Schwartz added. “After his condition stabilized, he was rushed to an operating room and was then transferred to intensive care for further treatment.”
