National Security Council issues special warning for Israelis planning to travel to Sinai Peninsula

Israel's National Security Council (NSC) issued on Monday a warning for Israelis traveling abroad, saying there's an increased likelihood of an Iranian or Iran-sponsored terror attack against Israeli targets.

This comes as the nation emerges from the coronavirus pandemic, and an increasing number of Israelis are considering international travel. The government approved the reopening of Israel’s border crossing with Egypt, allowing Israelis to visit the popular tourist destination of the Sinai Peninsula starting Tuesday.

The NSC reported heightened motivation on the part of Iran to hurt Israelis abroad, and has issued a special warning for those planning on vacationing in Sinai.  

The report cited as a motivating factor the recent assassination of a top Iranian nuclear scientist near Tehran, an incident which some reports claimed was the handiwork of the Mossad agency.
