Jerusalem, Khartoum signed a normalization deal, brokered by Washington, three weeks ago

Israel’s Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen made a trip Monday to Sudan and met with top officials in the country, Hebrew media reported.

It was the first formal visit of an Israeli minister in the African state.

Three weeks ago, during a visit of the Trump administration’s Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin to Khartoum, Sudan cemented its normalization with Israel by signing the Abraham Accords.

According to outlet Walla News, in the final weeks of the Trump administration, officials in the White House sought to organize an official signing ceremony attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sudanese President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. Read more at i24
