Agudath Israel of America is heartbroken at the terror attack in Stoneman School yesterday, and offers its condolences to the victims’ families and to all who were touched by this senseless act of violence.

It is tragic that a school, which should be a safe and welcoming place for children, can become a place of carnage. Incidents like this require policymakers to look more closely at ways to keep all students and all schools safe.

That the perpetrator was reportedly a member of a “White Supremacist” group should remind us all how dangerous these fringe groups are and how vigilant law enforcement needs to be in monitoring them.‎

Violent incidents like yesterday's are occasion for national mourning, but they are also occasion for recognition of the heroism displayed by our nation's first responders. They represent the very best of America.
