Baltimore, MD - June 3, 2022 - Since the passage of the Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits (EISTC) program in 2012, nonpublic school families in Virginia, including those attending Jewish day schools and yeshivos in Richmond and Norfolk, have received enormous benefit from the program.

The annual allocation for this program was previously capped at $25 million in the state budget. However, the program’s opponents in the Virginia General Assembly have just passed a budget that cuts the funding from $25 million to only $12 million!

The budget bill was sent to Governor Youngkin’s desk to be signed; however, the Governor is still able to amend or veto specific items in the budget. Please urge Governor Youngkin to REJECT this potentially catastrophic blow to such a vital program and to maintain the EISTC funding at the $25 million cap as written in Virginia law.
