US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made clear on Thursday that the White House will push to reimpose UN sanctions against Iran if an international arms embargo expires.

During a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing in Washington Friday, Pompeo said the Trump administration would present “in the near future” a resolution to the United Nations Security Council to extend this embargo on conventional arms sales to Tehran, which expires on October 18.”In the event it’s not, we’re going to take the action necessary to ensure that this arms embargo does not expire,” he said.
