Baltimore, MD, Jan. 16, 2019 — The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 1000 traditional rabbis in matters of public policy, commended the Democratic National Committee today for dropping its sponsorship of the Women's March, Inc., in the wake of ongoing revelations linking Women's March leaders to Antisemitism. In an appearance on The View earlier this week, Women's March co-leader Tamika Mallory repeatedly refused to condemn statements by Louis Farrakhan, who has called Jews "Satanic," "termites," and "false Jews," even after his hateful words were read to her by The View co-host Meghan McCain.

"Ms. Mallory would never associate with people in leadership roles who identify with haters like David Duke, yet her mentor Louis Farrakhan is cut from the same racist cloth," observed Rabbi Dov Fischer, West Coast Regional Vice President of the CJV. Rabbi Fischer has written extensively on both Mallory and another co-head of Women's March, Linda Sarsour, whom Rabbi Fischer has called "America’s most vile bigot." "Racism and bigotry must be condemned in all their forms, regardless of the ethnicity or background of their source."

According to news reports, fewer than half of last year's sponsors of the Women's March have returned this year. But the Democratic National Committee (DNC) was both the Women's March's largest and most powerful supporter, and ended its sponsorship in the immediate wake of Mallory's television appearance.

"Given the alarming statements and sentiments now apparently acceptable from new Democratic members of the House of Representatives like Rashida Tlaib, we are pleased to see the DNC standing against Antisemitism by dissociating from the Women's March," said Rabbi Steven Pruzansky, Rabbi Fischer's East Coast counterpart at the CJV. "The DNC acted correctly by rejecting a group taken over by women entirely too comfortable with Antisemitic hatred."

The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), the largest rabbinic public policy organization in America, articulates and advocates for public policy positions based upon traditional Jewish thought.
