A new restaurant serving up a rotating array of kosher dishes is coming soon to downtown Baltimore.

The Daily Special is aiming to open in a ground-floor space at 201 N. Charles St. after Passover, which will be celebrated this year from March 30 to April 7.

Chef Daniel Neuman, of kosher steakhouse Serengeti in Pikesville, will help launch the new concept, which he said will offer "not only healthy and fresh options to the area for lunch, but also a twist of something new and different." True to its name, the eatery will offer a changing daily special.

"Customers will always find kosher-certified entrées and sides they can appreciate, but we hope the knowledge of the menu being a little something different each day will add a bit of flavor into daily routines and make lunch something to really look forward to," Neuman said in announcing the new concept.

The menu will serve only dishes that have been certified "glatt" kosher, an assurance that the food complies with Orthodox Jewish dietary rules.

Ayelet Dresin, who is helping to coordinate the Daily Special's launch, said the restaurant will be open for lunch and will follow a Chipotle-like concept, with customers "going down the line and picking items for a green bowl or salad bowl."
